The last meeting against the Ottawa Senators resulted in a strong game and the Montreal Canadiens head coach wants to remind people of the importance of sticking together.
St-Louis discussed the topic after his team’s morning practice in Brossard on Thursday.
“You have to bring robustness, you have to bring some jam,” emphasized St-Louis. Not just physically, but (also) mentally. It’s nothing new, it’s part of the “game.” It’s not the job of one, two or three people, we are a team, we have to play with a whole mentality. If someone messes with one of our guys, we’re all in there.”
That’s why St-Louis tries to continue to establish a team mentality rather than sticking to a more individualistic philosophy.
The CH coach also addressed the Josh Anderson case after training and pairing with Alex Newhook.
“Newhook is an excellent hockey player. But Andy is able to play with other players, St-Louis analyzed. […] What I see as Josh progressing is the number of escape attempts he makes. It’s all about timing, understanding the game, your individual talent with your speed.
“I didn’t take anything away from his game. Those are discussions we need to have to help him figure out where he’s going on the ice.
