Groupe Lebel implements “unique technology in Quebec”

This plant was bought by its founder Deniso Lebel in 1956 and is the very first of the 23 plants of Groupe Lebel.

Classified as innovative, this technology classifies wood and optimizes its transformation. “Plant production and material yield will be significantly improved, making the plant more competitive,” says the press release from Groupe Lebel, which declined our interview request. “Given the lack of accredited measuring devices, the measuring phase will also be significantly simplified.”

The first tests of this new equipment are scheduled for November. The new facility will ultimately create six new jobs. For the family business, “the sustainability of forest resources and wood processing plants are the essence of its mission”, emphasizes Groupe Lebel in its press release.

Groupe Lebel employs 1,400 people in 23 sawmills and value-added products, as well as in the head office and sales office. The company’s locations are in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Maine, USA. Groupe Lebel claims to be one of the leading timber production companies in eastern Canada.
