Five young players from the Quebec team, but most notably a member of the De Mortagne high school team in Boucherville, won a medal at the Canada Under-15 Baseball Championship, which was played in Laval from August 24-27. With the formation of Team Quebec, Victor Lefebvre, Olivier Boutin, Elliott Malo and Victor Flanagan won the silver medal while Vincent Laporte, selected by the host team Laval, Laurentides, Lanaudière, won the bronze medal.
In a tough tournament that featured the best baseball players in the country, Team Quebec had an excellent performance but lost to British Columbia in the finals. It should be noted that Victor Lefebvre has excelled now, with a .600 offensive average in seven games and an impressive home run more than 320 feet from home plate.
For his part, Vincent Laporte was a key part of the host team, who won the bronze medal thanks to a win over Alberta.
The five youngsters were part of the Patriotes de la Rive Sud 15U AAA team this summer. They are part of the Sports Study Baseball program at Mortagne de Boucherville High School.
