The Alouettes knew this part of the game was going to be tough… Despite a commendable performance, the Montreal side suffered a second straight defeat before even beginning a home-away series against the Toronto Argonauts.
Unlike Winnipeg last week, however, the Alouettes offered a solid opponent against the BC Lions despite a 34-25 loss at Percival-Molson Stadium.
A successful interception by Quincy Mauger at the expense of quarterback Cody Fajardo severely damaged the Alouettes’ chances in the fourth quarter. With that, the Lions clipped the wings of the “Sparrows,” who had just tricked a clearance feint moments earlier. Then Jeshrun Antwi had grabbed the ball before going to the kicker and running 43 yards.
In this thrilling game, William Stanback also enlivened the crowd early in the fourth quarter by launching the ball 69 yards into the end zone. It was his longest run resulting in a touchdown since his Canadian Football League debut. Wide receiver Austin Mack also shone with a spectacular touchdown. It wasn’t enough to tame the Lions.
