Doug Ford visits the Maritimes to talk about health networks in Canada

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is visiting the Maritimes this week to discuss challenges facing Canada’s health networks with his counterparts.

He will first meet with the Premier of Nova Scotia, Tim HoustonSunday.

This meeting comes ahead of a summit of the Maritimes Premiers to be held on Monday in Moncton, New Brunswick. Doug Ford and Tim Houston will go there together.

Doug Ford must then meet individually with the Premier of New Brunswick, Blaine HiggsPrime Minister of Prince Edward Island, Dennis Kingand Secretary of State for Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc.

The four provincial heads will then meet for their summit.

The meeting will focus on issues in the country’s healthcare system as emergency departments across the country struggle with staffing shortages.

The visit of Doug Ford in the Maritimes comes as Ontario’s health system has suffered from staff shortages in recent weeks.

Some emergency rooms have had to close for hours or even days.
