Accordingly the announcement From Air Canada, the company will suspend non-stop flights between Calgary and six destinations:
- Ottawa
- Halifax
- Frankfurt
- Cancun
- Honolulu
- Los Angeles
These changes will take effect on October 30, 2023.
This affects all travel profiles: business and frequent flyer flights (Frankfurt), leisure flights (Cancun, Honolulu, Los Angeles) and even large domestic flights (Ottawa, Halifax).
Beginning October 30, 2023, travelers wishing to travel to these destinations must add a connection in Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal.
The only destinations outside of Canada are New York Newark (EWR) and London Heathrow (LHR). Air Canada will continue to offer almost 10,000 seats per week on the latter. It is certain that Air Canada will maintain the Calgary-London Heathrow service in order not to lose valuable airfields on the London platform.
However, it’s clear that the withdrawal of these six destinations remains of major concern for Air Canada travelers departing from Calgary.
Here is the status of Air Canada flights departing from Calgary on flight connections BEFORE these services were suspended:
