Canadian paracyclists Nathan Clement and Shelley Gautier claimed their second medals at the World Cycling Championships on Friday and took bronze in their respective T1 road races.
Clement of West Vancouver, British Columbia, finished the 31.2-kilometer race 7:58 behind China’s Lu Rongfei, who crossed the finish line in 56:30.
China’s Chen Jianxin finished on the second rung, 14 seconds ahead of Clement.
Gautier of Niagara Falls, Ontario, finished 12:59 behind Czech Republic’s Pavlína Vejvodová, who won the race in 1:15:30.
Australia’s Eltje Malzbender won the silver medal.

Clement took gold in the men’s T1 time trial earlier this week while Gautier took bronze in the women’s.
The T1 class is one of two tricycle categories for athletes with disabilities that affect their balance and coordination.
Clement is in his second season as a cyclist, having started his athletic career as a paraswimmer.
