Pre-voting begins in Alberta | Alberta Elections 2023

The primaries are generally open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

During the five days of the primary, voters can go to any primary polling station to place their ballot in the ballot box.

Pre-polling sites are commonly held in shopping malls, community centers, libraries, labor camps, universities, and other public buildings indicates the location of the elections in Alberta.

Voting is also possible on May 29, the official election day.

To vote in provincial elections, you must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old and live in Alberta.

You must also be able to prove your identity to election officials with a document containing your full name, an official photograph and your address.

Anyone wishing to vote can therefore present their driver’s license or their national identity card, which contains these three pieces of information. You can also provide multiple documents, such as a Canadian passport, status card, social security card, rental agreement, or utility and telecom bills.

Measures for persons at risk and fire evacuees

In the coming days, Elections Alberta staff will also be visiting nearly 700 retirement homes, nursing homes, hospitals and shelters to help more people exercise their right to vote.

Elections Alberta has taken some measures to provide the right to vote for people living in communities that have been evacuated due to wildfires. In particular, they can go to the office of the returning officer in their stables.
