Despite fears of being assassinated if he returns to his country, a father and his family in India have received another dismissal from the federal government, this time over their application for a temporary residency permit in Canada.

Everything was confirmed by the office of Canadian Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser on Friday morning.
He then told bloc MP for Lac-Saint-Jean and immigration critic Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe that the minister would not use his discretionary powers to overturn the decision. A decision that was also heavily criticized by the latter.
“At one point he seriously believed that returning to his homeland would be life-threatening for him. At this point, can we afford to send him back there with Canadian children? asks Mr. Brunelle-Duceppe.
The next few hours will therefore be crucial for this family, who could be deported on Saturday evening, in the middle of Canada Day, as Ottawa previously rejected their asylum application.
“We will do everything we can, but it is extremely disheartening and also ironic that we are taking the risk of deporting someone on Canada Day,” he says.
Quebec Solidaire responds
The member of the Québec Solidaire in Saint-Henri-Saint-Anne, Guillaume Cliche-Rivard, has many questions about the motives that lead the federal government to take this action.
“It’s a funny message we send. I think we have better things to do, even if it’s not my favorite holiday, we could celebrate it in a different way than deporting people who want to stay here,” he said.
“Obviously we need to give them temporary residency, prevent deportation and ultimately allow them to obtain permanent residency. We have a lot more to gain as a society by keeping them close,” he adds.
The latter also wonders what is the use of the government in forcing the expulsion of a family who wants to integrate in Quebec and whose two children are Canadian, which he also considers very serious.
time goes by
At the time of writing, there is just over 24 hours between Mr Singh and his deportation, while the flight is scheduled for tomorrow evening at 7pm.
“I don’t sleep anymore, I don’t eat anymore. I’m really in danger in India. If I am killed, who will take care of my two children?” Mr Singh told this protocol beginning of the week. Fearing reprisals in his country, he also demanded that his first name be kept secret.
For now, his only hope of staying in Canada, and maybe even staying alive, is to apply for a stay of his deportation on health grounds.
His application also included a recommendation for medical follow-up as he has problems, particularly cardiovascular problems.
He would therefore continue to “await crucial investigations,” according to his doctor’s letter The newspaper Got a copy.
This last resort might ultimately allow him to buy some time to see if other options are available to him.
