“Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has adopted a public policy that temporarily allows eligible work permit holders and persons eligible under Section 186(u) of Immigration and Immigration and Refugee Protection to work without a permit, to study without a study permit.” IRCC said via email on Thursday.

The agency also clarified that no further steps were required to benefit and that data subjects had received an email.

Workers who applied for a work permit after June 7, 2023 are not eligible for this new measure.

Two documents must be presented to the school: the email received from Immigration Canada and the valid work permit or work permit letter we sent you when you applied for your work permit extension.

Before that date, workers could study for up to six months without a study permit.

“By removing barriers to skill development, we open the door to more internationally trained doctors and nurses caring for the people we care about and supporting the healthcare system.” We are also paving the way for construction workers, tradespeople to strengthen our communities and build new homes,” said Secretary of State for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser.

“This immigration measure will help employers, workers and our economy by addressing critical labor shortages. This is good news for everyone involved,” he added.
